Have you ever lost your keys or your phone? And where is that piece of paper you had in your hand a few minutes ago? How is it possible to lose things in your own home?
HOW DID YOU FIND THAT?
I like my things. All of them. But without a dependable system to maintain control, I would live in a constant state of overwhelm and chaos. In How Did You Find That? I share my method of taking your space from chaos to control with these four simple habits:
1. Seeing
2. Grouping
3. Containing
4. Storing
How Did You Find That? will have you wondering, why didn't I think of that?
THE BACKSTORY
How did you find that?
That's what my neighbor asked when I stopped by to help her with a computer problem. I had first run home to grab a diagnostic disk and promised to return in a few minutes. And when I did return as promised, my neighbor was shocked. She pointed to the disk in my hand and said, "How Did You Find That?"
At first her confusion didn't register with me. What did she mean? Then I entered her home and understood. She was living in a state of chaos and could not find anything in her own home. She needed help. The answer is in this book.
ABOUT THE BOOK
This is not a book about cleaning, clearing, tidying, decluttering, or organizing. It's a philosophy of organizing your mind so you can organize your space.
I am not a professional organizer and I'm definitely not a minimalist. I am a writer who likes my things, all of them. But without a reliable system to maintain control, I would live in a constant state of overwhelm and chaos. How Did You Find That? breaks down the four habits I have learned to manage my space and the things in it.
