Horses in Company is an in-depth study of the social interaction and hierarchy of horses in the wild. The book discusses how the characteristic behaviour of the herd has developed in response to the natural selection pressures in their evolution, namely that horses are prey animals and not predators, and how this governs the behaviour of domestic horses living together. About the Author

Lucy Rees has studied equine ethology for many years, and has observed the behaviour of wild and feral horses in places as diverse as the USA, Australia, Spain and South America. She is based in Spain where she keeps Pottoka horses, the native breed of the Basque country. Lucy frequently lectures in universities through Europe and Latin America and runs courses promoting 'natural' methods of horsemanship.
