About the Author

Joseph L. Ponessa has served as a priest of the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings for nearly fifty years. He taught Latin, Spanish and religion at Billings Central Catholic High School and Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Miles City. His studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome required mastery of nine languages — Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, Arabic, Latin, Italian, German, French and English. He completed his doctoral work there under the tutelage of Albert Cardinal Vanhoye SJ.
