What is Holy Humor? It is a book for those who enjoy a good laugh, and for those who enjoy retelling good jokes and stories. It's a book that shows religion, church, preaching and even the clergy can be fun and have a funny side, too.

In Holy Humor, the jokes, sayings and thoughts have a religious touch. The basis for almost all humor is fact, and many of the stories in this volume are funny incidents that really happened. The humor here, though, is light and fun. It isn’t heavy-handed and preaching, nor is it crude and repulsive.

The stories in Holy Humor can be enjoyed by anyone, told by anyone, to anyone without embarrassment. The jokes are ageless, and don’t require a deep knowledge of theology or the tenets of any denomination. All the reader needs to enjoy this book is a sense of humor, and the knowledge that jokes don't have to be offensive to be funny.

About the Author

Richard Bauman has been writing and publishing magazine articles for more than 35-years. He writes about history, travel, health, spirituality and self help topics. His articles have appeared in such magazines as American Way, Rotarian, Elks Sacred Journal, Catholic Yearbook, Lutheran Digest, Family Motor Coaching, Highways, Catholic Digest, Decision, Signs of the Times, Mature Years, Mature Living, and many more. He is also the author of the books Awe-Full Moments: Spirituality in the Commonplace, and It Made a Difference to that One. For more than 15 years he was the author of the popular day-to-day calendar, Legal Lunacies.

He has contributed articles or chapters to such books as: Chicken Soup for the Christian Family Soul; Cup of Comfort; God Allows U-Turns; Where We Live; The Writer’s Research Handbook, Whispers from Heaven and Prepare Our Hearts, and most recently, Voices in Today’s Magazines.

Richard and his wife, Donna, have been married for nearly 50-years. They have two adult children, Chris and Stephanie, and four grandsons: Noah, Luke, Patrick and Mason. Richard and Donna reside in Southern California.
