About the Author

Andrew N. Edel, a retired twenty-year Air Force veteran from Jacksonville, Florida, spent his childhood in Tallahassee and north Florida. After retirement he enrolled in a Masters of Administration in Public History program at Florida State University. He has worked as independent research historian for museum exhibits: "San Marcos De Apalachee" for Florida State Parks; "The Florida Center of Political History & Governance" for the Florida Department of State; and "The Evolution of Justice in Florida" for the Supreme Court of Florida. Currently he holds three part-time positions: interpretive program specialist at the Historic Capitol Museum, the Archivist of the Supreme Court of Florida, and a ranger and lighthouse historian at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. He is also President of the Tallahassee Historical Society.
