Jeffrey Spencer has long been associated with numerous historical and community organizations in the greater Omaha area. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, he has lectured and written extensively on many local history topics. He has served as a Trustee of the Nebraska State Historical Society; President of the Trans-Mississippi Exposition Historical Association; Executive Director of the Historic General Dodge House Museum in Council Bluffs, Iowa; Director of the Library/Archives Center of the Douglas County Historical Society; and Executive Director of Landmarks Incorporated, an organization involved with neighborhood redevelopment and historic preservation in Omaha.
In addition to these positions, he has served on the boards of several Omaha community service organizations and continues to assist many local groups involved with the arts and with philanthropic endeavors.
In 2004, he authored Building for the Ages: Omaha's Historic Landmarks, detailing the history of the built environment in Omaha. He is called upon frequently to discuss and interpret the diverse history of Omaha.
An avid art collector, he also travels extensively in Southeast Asia providing assistance for the development of English Language programs in the Kingdom of Thailand.
