About the Author

W. Gay Reading is a native Lexingtonian with roots in early central Kentucky. He graduated from Washington & Lee University with a BA in History and Fine Arts and holds an MFA in Theatre Design from Case-Western Reserve University.

He has worked in several capacities for the University of Kentucky, the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation, and as proprietor of a private press. He is currently a partner in Greentree Antiques and Tearoom in downtown Lexington, where he lives, and serves as a board officer of the Headley-Whitney Museum for decorative arts and the Warwick Foundation that promotes the legacy of architectural historian and cultural scholar Clay Lancaster.

He returned to Lexington, Kentucky, after serving in the infantry in Viet Nam and has never left for long.
