About the Author

Ronald L. Burdick joined the Cleveland Public Library in 2002 after several years with the Elyria (Ohio) Public Library. In March 2004 he was promoted to head of the history and geography department, Louis Stokes wing of the main library, which includes the map and photograph collections. Previously he directed two historical societies and historic preservation offices with Defiance College and the Ohio Historic Preservation Office. He has a bachelors of science degree in history from Defiance College and a masters in library science from Kent State University.

Since 2000 Margaret L. Baughman has been the photograph collection librarian at Cleveland Public Library. The photograph collection has approximately 1.3 million photographs primarily from local newspaper morgues and the Newspaper Enterprise Association. These photographs document people, places, and events from the late nineteenth century to the 1990s. In addition, the collection holds works of well-known and established Northeast Ohio photographers. She has a masters in library and information science.
