Historic Israel: First in a Series of Photos from 30 Years of World Travel
In the twilight-of my life, I have taken it on myself to share with you the miracle that 'is Israel. My father was from a Russian Jewish family that immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in New York in 1905. He was eighteen years old and came with his mother and Father and three younger brothers and a sister. In the same year, my mother's family (she was not born yet) immigrated from Romania. Had our families not done that we might have been a part of the six million Jews killed in German concentration camps during World War II. No wonder that in 1947, the world at last lived up to the long overdue promise of a homeland to for Jews to return to, in Palestine.
I was twelve years old at the end of World War II and in not A very religious family. The news of the extermination of so many Jews, decided me on staying a Jew, no matter what ... and when, many years later, I had the chance to visit Israel, I seized eagerly on the opportunity, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. NEITHER WILL YOU BE!
