About The Author
Canadian and British author Charles Grant Allen (1848 - 1899) wrote science and mystery books. Allen was born near Kingston, Ontario and educated at home before his parents moved to the United States, then to France and the United Kingdom. He was educated at Merton College in Oxford, and studied in France, eventually becoming a professor at Queen's College, in Jamaica.
Allen died of cancer in England in 1899 before finishing Hilda Wade. He dictated the final episode to his friend Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who is best known for creating detective Sherlock Holmes.
