About the Author

Prof. Regge is Associate Professor at the University of Torino and Director of the Radiology Unit at the Candiolo Cancer Institute (Torino, Italy), where he also directs the Imaging and Data Processing Lab (IDP-Lab) composed of a multi-disciplinary team of radiologists, physicists, engineers and computer scientists. He is active in the development and clinical validation of computer aided diagnosis (CAD) systems for diagnosis of colorectal, breast and prostate cancer and has made important contributions in the field of prostate and colorectal cancer diagnosis.
He is president of the European Society of Oncologic imaging, President of the Informatics Chapter of the Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM) and has held in the past various leadership positions including member of the ESR Leadership Institute, ESOR visiting professor, board member and secretary of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII) and president of the Computer Application Subcommittee of ECR 2016. He is also a reviewer for many journals, was subspecialty editor of European Radiology from 2012 to 2015 and has published 135 peer review articles and radiology textbooks.


Dr. Zamboni is staff member and head of body CT at the University of Verona’s Radiology Unit.
She has completed a fellowship in Computed Tomography at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA and was the recipient of the “ESR Albert L. Baert Editorial Fellowship” for 2014.
Her main interest is abdominal pathology, especially pancreatic and CT protocols.
She is author of 50 peer-reviewed publications, 1 book, 8 book chapters and more than 90 scientific contributions at national and international congresses, and has given about 40 invited lectures.
She is a Fellow of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR), and has been appointed International Visiting Professor for the RSNA for 2017.
Dr. Zamboni is also a reviewerfor several international journals and is on the editorial board of European Radiology.
She is a member of the EPOS reviewer team for ECR and of the Radiographics poster evaluation panel for the General Imaging section at RSNA.

Following an introduction to the mechanisms of metastasis, the book discusses specific diseases of the two systems in detail and covers various aspects including epidemiology, risk factors, pathology, staging and treatment, and patterns of local and distal spread.
Purpose: It proposes a practical and clinically driven approach to tumor dissemination through imaging. The main purpose is to present a concise book on recent hepatobiliary and pancreatic classifications and guidelines so that radiologists can share their perspectives with oncologists to help plan state-of-the art therapies for these notorious cancers.
Audience: This book appears to be primarily targeted at trainees and residents in radiology and practicing radiologists interested in educating themselves on the latest developments in the field. This interesting book is written by recognized experts who are all based in Italy.
Features: The book is concise at just over 120 pages and eight chapters. The introductory chapters cover the basic mechanisms underlying tumor dissemination and the associated radiological signs. Subsequent chapters are devoted to detailed discussions of specific diseases of the two systems and descriptions of neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer as well as mucinous carcinoma and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN).
