Overview

A Los Angeles-based group of immigrant musicians from Belize, Chatuye's music is based on the Afro-Caribbean beats of their homeland's Garifuna tribe. Played on drums, maracas and claves and sung in call-and-response fashion, the songs on the spirited Heartbeat in the Music bear a strong resemblance to the polyrhythms found in the Afro-Cuban tradition. ~ Jason Ankeny
