Hattie continues to warn the others as, bit by bit, a fox emerges. When it pounces, Hattie flies up a tree, but all the other animals are thrown in confusion--except the cow, who gives such a mighty MOO! that the fox is frightened away. The animals' languid indifference and the silly illustrations make this an extremely enjoyable read-aloud.
