Editorial Reviews

AUGUST 2018 - AudioFile

Josh Bloomberg narrates this charming story with a balance of heart, humor, and hope. His steady tempo and smooth enunciation draw the listener into this magical tale of love, loss, and new life. When Harry runs away to the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania, hoping to escape the guilt and grief he feels over his wife’s death, 10-year-old Oriana's unwavering faith in fairy tales leads him to a purposeful new life. Bloomberg energetically portrays the large cast of eccentric characters. From the raspy voice of Olive, the pipe-smoking librarian, to the voices of realistic Amanda, Oriana’s mother; Wolf, Harry’s bully of a brother; and Ronnie, the self-appointed guardian angel of Amanda and Oriana, to name but a few, tones of humor and pathos provide a perfect balance. From the Publisher

"Harry's Trees is superbly plotted, and worth its weight in gold."-Debbie Macomber, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author

"This is a story about ... the power of the human spirit to soar above tragedy and reunite with joy. Don't let the term fairy tale scare you away, for, as Cohen says, Enchantment is a part of everyday existence. Oh, and it's also a chuckleworthy story." -Kirkus Reviews

"When a young girl asks you to believe in fairy tales, sometimes you just have to obey. In Cohen's capable hands, the unlikely teamwork between an optimistic child and a wary adult makes for a tender tale of first loves and second chances."-Booklist, starred review

"Part fairy tale and, at the same time, heartbreakingly realistic, Cohen's third novel will entrance readers from page one, and by the end, even skeptics will agree that magic can still be found in the most unlikely places and in the most surprising people if only we're willing to look."-Library Journal, starred review

"Life, death, love, loneliness, and grief are the building blocks of Jon Cohen's wondrous new novel, along with nonstop action, humor and a broad cast of characters whose actions converge like a perfectly crafted jigsaw puzzle." -BookPage
