About the Author

Katrina Witten is the embroiderer, designer and inspiration behind Rowandean Embroidery, a small family company designing and making some of the finest hand-stitched kits on the market today. Inspired by the countryside and nature, Rowandean's designs are for all ages and abilities, and the quality of their translation into stitch is outstanding.

From an early age, Katrina has always had an interest in embroidery. She trained as a teacher and then taught textiles in Derbyshire, UK, for twelve years. Inspired by her love of stitching, she started exhibiting nationally at craft and art shoes, which led to the setting-up of Rowandean Embroidery in 1989. Katrina and her husband Ted have focused on selling their kits to the trade, and over the twenty-eight years in which they have been in business, they have constantly adapted to new trends and grown their global presence. A large part of their success is the personal contact they enjoy with their customers, whether it be through workshops, at trade events or in publications. Rowandean Embroidery exhibits in London, Paris, Dublin, Harrogate, Edinburgh and Birmingham in the UK; Katrina has also held workshops in Japan, Canada and the US.
