Overview

Hamlet or Hamlet in older literature (Hamlet) is the title of one of William Shakespeare's best known and most popular plays, but also the name of the play's central character. The full title of the play is The Tragicall Historie of Hamlet, Prince of Denmarke. The earliest recorded presentation of the play dates to July 1602. In 1603, the play was presented at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford. In Greece, the play was presented for the first time at the National Theater in 1937, directed by Dimitris Rodiris, with Alexis Minotis as Hamlet.
