Life could never offer a balm,
That did not augment my pain;
And I faced commiseration by all,
Who heard my silent complain.
But I would not wish to venture,
Into their outlandish ways,
Nor revive the fatal memories,
Of hope's forgotten days!
(ii)
The shadows of existence fail to identify,
Within the glory of this
be-speckled sky,
Its changes that revolve but cease to nullify,
And create a divide to
rule and pry,
With Sorrow letting its mirage fly,
(iii)
Above the future's clouded eye,
Fair Nature extinguishes the lie,
Embittering the ruins of a dead sigh,
Expelled from one who must die,
Who seeks to know the when and why,
Who is offered a choice to defy,
But this option only to the dead apply,
(iv)
And is better than what mortals signify,
Or reasoning could ever amplify,
There- unlamented- Truth shall die,
Beneath the heaven's watchful eye!
Once the sole consoler of my heart,
I was forsaken by Hope's shadow,
And cut so deep by Treachery's dart,
Even death cannot hurt me now!
