About the Author

John Henricksson was the director of publicity (Tourism) for the State of Minnesota from 1952–1962 and has written environmental, outdoor and travel news and features for newspapers, magazines and TV for thirty years.?He headed a public relations agency for ten years which focused on outdoor recreational products and services.?He was selected to write the young reader’s biography of Rachel Carson for the “12 Americans Who Have Made a Difference” series. He is the editor of NORTHWRITERS: A STRONG WOOD COLLECTION; NORTHWRITERS: OUR PLACE IN THE WOODS; and the author of A WILD NEIGHBORHOOD, which was illustrated by Betsy Bowen. Both Henricksson and Bowen won Minnesota Book Awards in the Nature Writing and Illustration category for A WILD NEIGHBORHOOD. All of these books were published by University of Minnesota Press. Henricksson divides his time between his home in Mahtomedi, Minnesota, and his Gunflint Lake cabin.
