Overview

Follow the adventures of Max as he continues to learn to play the guitar. Students will learn right along with Max using fun, engaging, and age-appropriate songs in a storybook format.

This introductory guitar method is designed to be a first guitar book for children ages 5-9. The songs are intentionally short and the progression very gradual to cater to the learning needs of beginning students. My hope is that by the end of the book, the student will learn to play simple melodies with confidence while enjoying the experience.

In this second volume of three, students will learn the third and fourth strings and three chords, Em, Am, and D7. The next book teaches the remaining strings and more chords. This tiered structure ensures mastery before moving on to more advanced skills.

This book is the result of 17 years of teaching guitar to young children. I wrote these pieces to provide enjoyable, accessible guitar material for young beginners.

I hope you become good friends with Max as you join in his fun.

About the Author

Jennifer Beach has taught music to children and adults for more than 30 years. Her parents encouraged her at a young age to develop musical skills and by the time she turned thirteen, she was asked to be the church organist. She learned from the current organist who was ready to retire. Since then she has become an accomplished pianist, accompanist and local choir director, as well as guitar and voice teacher. Over the years she has taught lessons out of her home, in schools, and out of a store front studio for more than a decade. Writing for her students has been an integral part of her teaching regimen. Every child is unique and it is important to fill in any gaps when necessary. She is a mom of five wonderful children who have musical gifts of their own. When she is not playing, writing or teaching music, she enjoys the country life with her family on their Kentucky farm.
