Overview

When it comes to committing to serve God or following after someone or something else, we can no more split our hearts and minds than we can divide the air with a knife. This is a fourth area of imbalance for believers--failing to keep God first. Beginning with verse twenty-four of Matthew chapter six, Jesus in His authority as the Son of God completely dispelled the notion that we can serve God and mammon. The word "mammon" not only refers to money, but also "possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord" (Matthew 6:24, Amplified Version). One will become more important and will ultimately control our lives.
