Overview

True to its ideology and philosophy, Islam as a Faith and religion stands for total submission to Almighty, who is the creator of universe and supreme authority for all the worlds. He is also the master of the Day of Judgment. Today, Islam is known as the progressive religion, promoted and preached by Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), who declared oneness of God and invited people to a Faith, which called for belief in unity of God and the prophet hood of Muhammad (Pbuh) himself. But, one significant fact is misunderstood by most of the people, that Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) is not the founder of Islam. Islam in fact was introduced, through Prophet Adam (Pbuh) at the time of the creation of the world, itself. Islam's God is God of all the people-not only the believers; and Holy Prophet (Pbuh) is kind and merciful for the whole mankind-not only for his followers. Islam also calls for the fraternity and brotherhood of its followers, forming a single community, termed as Ummah. Islam declares that there would be a Day of Judgment on the last day of this world, termed as Qiyamat. On that day virtues would be rewarded and evils would be punished for. About the Author

Dr. M. Soundarapandian is Professor of Rural Industries and Management, Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed University), Gandhigram. At present, the author is acted as Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) of Gandhigram Rural University. Apart from 21 years of teaching and extension responsibilities at Gandhigram Rural Institute, he has been engaged in research activities. He has published many research articles in various journals at national and international level and eighteen books, namely Rural Industries in India, Women Entrepreneurship, Tribal Development. Industrial Resurgence in Rural India, Literacy Campaign in India, Rural Entrepreneurship, Research Projects in Rural Industries and Management, Rural Industries Under Liberalisation, Rural Industrialisation, Small Scale Industries. Economic Reforms and Public Distribution System, Management Model for Self-Employment, Economic Reforms and Employment, Environment Degradation and Rural Poverty, Textile Industry under Globalisation and Rural Labour Market. Apart from providing research guidance to a number of Ph.D. and M.Phil scholars, he has directed and completed eleven minor research projects and four major research projects that were sponsored by University Grants Commission, Indian Council of Social Science Research. Bharat Gyan Vijyan Samiti, Ministry of Rural Development, New Delhi and State Resource Centre for Non-formal Education, Chennai. The Young Economist Award by the Association of Economists of Tamil Nadu and Bharat Jothi Award by the India International Friendship Society have been awarded to him.
