A deep autobiographical soul-searching drives Merryl, a despairing mother of four approaching middle age, to delve into the flagging of her striving Christian spirit. Tortured by the bitter memory of her brusque response to her young son 's loving gesture during a marriage crisis twenty years in the past, Merryl relives her pain over a twenty-four hour journey back through the intervening years of trauma, 1967 to 1987, searching for the love she so cruelly threw away. Merryl capsulizes her heart-trek in a concluding selection of her poetry.

About the Author

Merrylynn Cox has lived it! Anyone who has tried it knows that marriage and motherhood have their ups and downs, especially when the partner depended upon to help raise four children is unhappy, unstable, and unconcerned. Merrylynn gives all the credit to her solid-rock Christian foundation for pulling her through all the crises to enjoy her beautiful grandchildren and her satisfying eightieth birthday. She completed her BA in English, with a minor in art, at the mature age of 50, the same year her youngest daughter graduated from high school. Merrylynn taught English and art at a Tulsa Christian middle school. After a subsequent ten years as an executive secretary In Public Relations for The Williams Companies, she retired and still resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Since the death of her first husband in 2001,
God, grandchildren, and ballroom dancing with a second loving husband bless her retirement days.
