Greater Perspective
Young Dr. Vincent Harcourt was content with the course of his life and wouldn't have agreed to be Dr. Varkan's accomplice had he known the true purpose of the experiment.
Derek Nortram, an intern at Oberon Innovations with a bright future, was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Mysteriously rejected from Oberon Innovations' new Regeneration Program, Dr. Rhaseba Varkan thought perfecting a risky genetics experiment would be his redemption. Despite his successful secrecy, however, a sudden accident in the lab contaminates him, Vincent, and his godson, Derek, with a premature solution of radiation and stem cells, causing their bodies to grow exponentially, with only minutes to escape the confines of the building.

Vincent and Derek find Rhaseba's upbeat coaching on giantdom irritating at best, amidst the humiliation of public panic, surviving on ambushing grocery trucks in the night, and the likelihood of losing their freedom and research to the government if they can't derive a corrective formula in time. Too huge for indoor spaces themselves, who can they trust to correct the formula in their stead? And Derek's scientist uncle, a long-time rival of Varkan's, is all too happy to take advantage of that--even at Derek's expense. However, when Derek finds acceptance through an old pastime and Vincent relearns to kiss his girlfriend, they discover the fate-altering hope in embracing one's inner giant.

About the Author

Before she really had a command of writing, she was a storyteller, a lover of entertainment. While growing up on Disney (at whose theme parks she would later have a job in the fall of 2007) and Don Bluth, feel-good but deep entertainment defined her mission as a writer, to bring those feelings to others. She would draw stories at a young age and, without words to frame them, each retelling would be slightly different each time. During the 4th grade was when she became serious about word craft and scored a 1st place award in the Virginia Piedmont Young Authors Contest and, in 1998, 1st place in a national competition for best literary interpretation of a soundtrack. In high school, she wrote for the student newspaper, The Tribal Tribune, which won national awards among high school papers. Between her sophomore and junior year, she "won" via writing sample acceptance to the Governor's School For the Arts Summer Honors Program for Creative Writing in Greenville, SC.

Michele graduated from the University of South Carolina initially with the idea of becoming a graphic artist, which she uses both personally, for her own book covers, to name one example, and professionally. Currently, she can be found managing customer projects in Staples' Copy and Print Center in her hometown in SC, while pursuing a second degree in Engineering Graphics, using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
