Grave Departure
When five bodies in three crude coffins are unearthed during the excavation for a new bridge, homicide detective Mitch Cleighmore is assigned to investigate. Wrapped up in his own domestic problems and burdened with an increasing caseload, Mitch is more than happy to wash his hands of the case when the answer appears obvious.
However, when a discrepancy arises, Mitch unofficially reopens the case and finds himself confronted with horrors that stretch back to the Nazi Party and even beyond. As he soon learns, sometimes the past refuses to stay buried.
Did this detective do the right thing for the wrong reasons, or the wrong thing for the right reasons?
Written by a retired police officer and former newspaper editor, Grave Departure is a police procedural and murder mystery that will bring readers to self-examination, asking, “What would I have done in his situation?”
