The third volume of
Ben Liebrand's
Grand12-Inches series, released by a division of
Sony in the Netherlands, features another round of full- and extended-length selections. As usual, most of the tracks originate from the late '70s and '80s and are rooted in R&B, and there's a nice balance between commercial successes and cult favorites. Some of the highlights here include
Janis Ian's
Giorgio Moroder-produced "Fly Too High" (from the
Foxes soundtrack),
Andre Cymone's
Prince-written "The Dance Electric,"
Trussel's "Love Injection," and
Shalamar's "Right in the Socket." Among those pulled from the rock and pop sections:
Robert Palmer's cover of
the System's "You're in My System,"
Talk Talk's "Such a Shame," and
Fox the Fox's "Precious Little Diamond." ~ Andy Kellman
