Gracie, who knows stealing isn't right, sees her friend take something that doesn't belong to him. Because he's her friend, she agrees not to tell anyone. Her guilt over the secret grows until it seems like a huge monster. She finally realizes that she needs to use her voice and tell the truth so that the monster guilt of the secret will no longer have power over her.

This book was written to help teach that secrets shouldn't be kept, in the hope that children will learn to speak out against injustices that affect their lives.
