Overview

A LOVE STORY "Grace of God" by Jacqueline Harris Gordon is a powerful and emotionally charged novel that takes readers on a rollercoaster journey through the tumultuous life of its protagonist, Delle Carrington. Traumatized by life altering events in her early years, Delle's path is set on a dark and destructive course. After her parent's divorce, Delle's resultant pain and anger drive her into a world of drug experimentation and despair. BUT GOD ISN'T FINISHED WITH HER YET. Throughout the narrative, we witness her love affair with drugs and alcohol eclipse all relationships in her life, leaving an indelible mark, whether through love, abandonment, or redemption. As she navigates a world of addiction, debauchery and heartbreak, Delle's life spirals downward until she reaches the brink of self-destruction. STILL GOD ISN'T FINISHED WITH HER YET. At a pivotal point, a presence from the past invokes a spark of hope and an infinitesimal chance for salvation. Estranged from all who love her and facing eternal damnation, Delle must make the choice to ask for help and fulfill God's promise to become all that she was born to be. Jacqueline Harris Gordon's masterful storytelling takes readers on a journey from despair to triumph, demonstrating the incredible power of grace and the potential for healing and renewal, even in the darkest of circumstances. GOD ISN'T FINISHED WITH HER YET, BUT IS SHE FINISHED WITH GOD? Grace of God poignantly, and often with humor, explores the themes of accountability, forgiveness, unconditional love, and the resiliency of the human spirit.

About the Author

MEET JACQUELINE HARRIS GORDON, a seventy-seven years young aspiring writer who frequently tops off her attire with a chapeau. In her lifetime, she has worn, and continue to wear, many hats: that of grand-daughter, daughter, mother, grandmother, niece, Auntie, cousin, friend, educator, entrepreneur, author, playwright, technology trainer/writer, public servant, general contractor, certified mediator, curriculum writer, diversity director, civil rights advocate...the list goes on.
Early training and expectations from Jacqueline’s parents led her to becoming a lifetime advocate of giving back to her community, and in 2002, she threw her hat in the ring to run for political office. She was honored to serve her constituents as Councilwoman, Deputy Mayor, and then Mayor over the course of seventeen years.
Jacqueline has sat on many Boards, and served on numerous committees and organizations in her lifetime, including The American Red Cross, County, State and National Committees, Planning and Water Boards, NJ Conference of Mayors (Co-chair), BSA Leader, HOLM America Board, and the National Stop the Violence Alliance. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Her absolute favorite pastime is reading, and love of literature led her to trying her hand at writing. Jacqueline has found penning Silver-City Chronicles to be fun in these senior days of her life, and firmly believes everyone has a story inside them. She urges you to tell yours…at any age!
Prior to writing Grace of God, Jacqueline Harris Gordon wrote a screenplay, “The Velvet Cuffs,” which became an award-winning short film accepted for screening at film festivals in Los Angeles, Detroit New York, and abroad. Other favorite pastimes, when time permits, include Web design, desktop publishing and iPhone games, in no particular order. She enjoys most music, but is partial to oldies, most movie genres, and episodical, and game-show TV. Her signature color is pink, and she loves interacting with long-time acquaintances and meeting new people. Family, and folk she calls friend are most dear to her heart.
Jacqueline firmly believes in God’s overruling Providence in her life. Her favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 3:1-15, beginning, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” She strongly embraces “The Golden Rule.”
She proclaims, “I have made many lasting memories in my lifetime. God Is Awesome, all the time.”
