Overview

Good Girl Olive is the story of a little terrier dog who was found stray on the street and through a series of events came to a service dog training school because of her exceptional hearing ability. It was thought that she could provide "ears" for a deaf person. While Olive (aka: Ollie) did well in school, she had a scrappy quality (self preservation) that prevented her from graduating (it's the exceptional dog that graduates.) Olive had her own ideas about what she wanted. By following her own instincts rather than what others wanted of her, Olive finds happiness as a companion dog.

CHAPTER 1

I am Olive, the terrier with big, sunny dreams.

I didn't have a home, just like Polly the cat, and Chip the bird. I met many animals and people on the streets. Polly and Chip helped me find food.

Some weren't so nice, like Mr. Grimes. He chased me with a broom!

One day a truck came and took me to a big house for dogs without homes. I met some real characters there!

And it was noisy like thunder. I covered my ears!

But I stayed and stayed until I was taken to a school for dogs: here dogs learn to help people who need them.
