Gnomes is a story about real gnomes.not the bright, cheery garden variety.Real gnomes are small, quick with foxes,cats and humans to worry about.Occasionally a gnome is seen by a human, very occasionally something special happens when they meet. So it is when Michael ,a boy, meets Nettles the gnome.Together they have to try to stop Gurn from reactivating an army of goblins

David Northrop is a lawyer who started telling stories to his children, mainly to keep them quiet and help them go to sleep.Someone foolishly suggested he should write one down and Gnomes is the result.The Isle of Wight, a small island off England , is partly to blame. David went there on holiday as a child and local legend had it that gnomes lived there.This suggestion has never quite gone away although Gnomes is set in the English countryside
