The development of transgenic crops is revolutionary, but what does it mean for food production, prices and to the environment? This is the first book to examine the economic evidence in a methodical way. It describes the historical evolution of biotechnology and defines key terms. It moves on to transgenic technology and food regime concepts. About the Author

Tatjana Brankov is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Economics in Subotica, Serbia. Holding a PhD in economics and two MSc in biotechnology, she takes a multidisciplinary approach in researching GMO policy, food security, nutrition economics and policy and agri-food trade.

Koviljko Lovre is a full-time professor, leading the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Economics in Subotica, Serbia. His research covers a wide range of developmental and policy issues including agricultural policy in transition economics, policies in support of agriculture and rural development, technical changes and innovation in agriculture. He was formerly the Minister for Agriculture and President of the Serbian Association of Agricultural Economists.
