Zoe Rivers, an imaginative 12-year old, lives in Texas in the last days of World War II, the invasion of Japan looming. Daily, she juggles a demanding grandmother, an emotionally fragile mother, and a disengaged father stationed in D.C. Distraught over the impending divorce of her parents, Zoe acts alone to change things. With little time, she must evict a certain man from Mama's life, restore Daddy's belief in family, and shock Mama out of wildly swinging moods, a shock plan that endangers Zoe's life.

About the Author

Donna McGinty developed a passion for writing fiction in college, but lacked the discipline to pursue storytelling during a long career. Now, in retirement, the passion burns bright, and discipline (fanny to the computer chair) has led to publication of two novels on HABITAT FOR MURER (2012), a cozy mystery, and GIRL IN A FOXHOLE (2016), an historical coming of age story.
