George Whitefield: A Biography

One of the Christian giants of the 18th Century was George Whitefield. This book, GEORGE WHITEFIELD: A BIOGRAPHY by Joseph Belcher, D.D., details his life and ministry.

Whitefield attended Oxford University and was ordained in the Church of England, but very soon adopted the teaching and beliefs of John Wesley. As a result, he found many churches in England closed to him, so he began preaching out-of-doors and said that was his favorite venue.

Early in his career, the Wesley brothers convinced Whitefield that he should travel to America, which he did and found almost immediate favor with Americans. Until his death in 1770, George Whitefield traveled back and forth between England and America and preached the saving message of God and Jesus Christ to hundreds of thousands of people.

At Whitefield's death John Wesley, preaching the funeral service said, "In his public labors he has astonished the world with his eloquence and devotion. He spoke from the heart with a fervency of zeal perhaps unequalled since the days of the Apostles."

GEORGE WHITEFIELD: A BIOGRAPHY by Joseph Belcher, D.D., is a book that will touch the hearts and minds of Christians everywhere.
