The story traces Gatewood's evolution to an advocate of Indian Rights on the White Mountain Indian Reservation.

About the Author

Hal McBride was born and raised in Stigler, Oklahoma. He attended Stigler High School. He received the majority of his undergraduate education at Arizona State College (Now Northern Arizona University) in Flagstaff, Arizona. He completed his Masters and Doctoral degrees at the University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. McBride resides with hi wife in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gatewood is his fourth book and second historical novel following his highly acclaimed memoirs, "To Bear Witness" and "Billie and the Boys." His first historical was the well-reviewed and honored "Who Be Dragons."
