About the Author

Rick Scoppe devoted sixteen years to covering the University of South Carolina athletic department for the Greenville News. Previously, Scoppe had served as the first sports editor of the Associated Press in South Carolina. A graduate of UNC–Chapel Hill, Scoppe is sports editor of the Daily News in Jacksonville, North Carolina.Charlie Bennett has spent over twenty-five years writing about college athletics and currently serves as the Gamecocks’ beat writer for the Post and Courier (Charleston, South Carolina). He has previously covered college teams including the University of Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Tulane, and the Southeastern Conference, in addition to the New Orleans Saints.
