Description: Because of the dramatic changes in the field, this is a much needed major update of a 2002 book on neurosurgical techniques.
Purpose: The purpose is to address the advances in neurosurgery since the previous edition was published.
Audience: Neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuroradiologists, ENT surgeons, and practitioners involved in the care of neurosurgical patients are the intended audience. The authors are experts in the field.
Features: In addition to major revisions of chapters that appeared in the first edition, this book compiles major advances in neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neuroendovascular surgery, and radiosurgery of lesions of the brain and spine. The authors succinctly describe surgical techniques, patient positioning, complications, and management pearls. Complex topics are portrayed well and are easy to understand.
Assessment: This is a superb new edition that came at the right time. It is an excellent pocket guide to neurosurgical techniques.
