Meredith Rusu lives in New Jersey with her husband and two young sons. Nathanna Érica is an illustrator and paper artist from São Paulo, Brazil. She has worked on a variety of colorful projects both in her home country and abroad. When she’s not cutting tiny paper pieces and mixing up colors, she’s lost on a book or two.

Young readers thirsting for more Anna and Elsa after the end of the last movie will thoroughly enjoy catching up with their favorite characters, especially in time for winter holiday celebrations. This early reader follows the two sisters as they celebrate the Yule holiday together by ringing the yule bell. Readers ready to celebrate the season will love seeing the different rituals that Anna and Elsa share in order to reconnect. Each page has three to seven sentences, featuring one or two short sentences that highlight the action: perfect for beginning readers who might want to try out reading on their own without being daunted by too much text. Illustrations have a slightly abstract, three-dimensional quality; they echo paper-cut pop-up pictures while remaining familiar to the cinematic images. This artistic choice lends itself to more rich possibilities of classroom activities, from simulating the art of animation to collage cut-outs. VERDICT A recommended purchase for children's libraries, especially around the holidays.
