Overview

This historical fiction novel is written using the framework of letters written to the author's great-great grandparents, Robert and Sephrona Clark McCollom. These letters were from their son during his time as a Confederate soldier as well as from friends and relatives on the western frontier. The time period is 1860-1920 and traces the lives of three brothers, William, Albert, and Ransom. The title is a metaphor for the vicious hand to hand combat experienced in the Civil War. It is the sequel to "Apple Blossoms."
