About the Author

Janet E. Courtney nee Hogarth (1865-1954) was an English feminist, scholar, and teacher. She earned a degree in philosophy at Oxford. She worked for the Ministry of Munitions and was awarded an OBE (The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). Her works include An Oxford Portrait Gallery (1931), Countrywomen in Council (1933), The Adventurous Thirties (1933), and The Women of My Time (1943).
