Overview

By 1774, fur trader and diplomat extraordinaire Sir William (Billy) Smithyman has carved a baronial estate from the New York wilderness and earned the undying love of his Mohawk wife Laura Silverbirch along with her people's trust. About the Author

David More was born in Montreal, Canada, but now lives with his wife, Donna, in a mid-1800s limestone house near Lake Ontario, where he can occasionally indulge his lifelong passions for sailing, boating and boatbuilding. Most recently, he acquired several weeks’ experience filling in as occasional deckhand, helmsman and cook aboard the local sail-training square-rigger, the brigantine St. Lawrence II, while working part-time for the organization.

Retired from a career as a medical laboratory manager, David was educated at University of Waterloo (BA History) and Queen’s University (Master of Public Administration) and MA (History). He is also a graduate of Canada’s Humber School for Writers. He has won several awards for his historical fiction and has published numerous articles in newspapers and professional journals. David has taught local/regional history at St. Lawrence College and continues to study history full-time in the PhD program at Queen’s, recently winning the Roger Graham Canadian History Fellowship and an Ontario Graduate Scholarship, while working on Book IV of the Smithyman Saga, The King’s Salt.
