Fragment und Makulatur: Uberlieferungsstorungen und Forschungsbedarf bei Kulturgut in Archiven und Bibliotheken
English summary: This anthology contains twenty interdisciplinary studies about the meaning and importance of manuscript and print fragments, their analysis, as well as their uses and applications in fields such as musical studies, philology, literary studies, Jewish studies, and canon law studies. The various types of fragments and their secondary use as waste paper in the bindings of other volumes are discussed, as well as their use in the reconstruction library collections and administrative registers. Using numerous examples, the relationship of the fragmentary record to their contextual works is also investigated. The growth in this cultural-historical field of research is indicated by the contributions from institutes in Graz, St. Gallen, Paris, Vienna, and Amsterdam, as well as German collections, which discuss more recent developments in dealing with fragments, such as their presentation on the internet, digitalization, technical reconstruction, as well as other recommendations for future development. The contributors also offer stimuli for the conception of interregional and multidisciplinary projects as well as new acquisition and retrieval strategies. This book also presents a general description and perspectives of this field of research. The articles examine the most recent literature relevant to their themes and offer a significant number of visual illustrations. German description: Der Sammelband beinhaltet 20 interdisziplinare Beitrage zur Bedeutung von Handschriften- und Druckfragmenten, zu ihrer Erschliessung sowie zum Nutzen fur die Anwendungswissenschaften, darunter Musikwissenschaften, die Philologien, Liturgiewissenschaft, Judaistik und Kanonistik. Dabei werden verschiedene Arten von Fragmenten und ihre Zweitverwendung als Makulatur in anderen Tragerbanden ebenso diskutiert wie ihre Nutzung zur Rekonstruktion von Bibliotheksbestanden und Verwaltungsregistraturen. An zahlreichen Beispielen wird das Verhaltnis der bruchstuckhaften Uberlieferung zu den Werkzusammenhangen dargestellt. Die Weiterentwicklung dieses kulturhistorischen Forschungsfeldes wird angedeutet durch Beitrage aus Instituten in Graz, St. Gallen, Paris, Wien und Amsterdam sowie aus deutschen Sammlungen, zu neueren Entwicklungen zum Umgang mit Fragmenten und auch zur Internetprasentation, ferner zur Digitalisierung und technikgestutzten Rekonstruktion und schliesslich durch eine Handreichung fur die Erschliessung. Impulse werden auch fur die Konzipierung uberregionaler und multidisziplinarer Projekte sowie neue Erfassungs- und Suchstrategien vorgetragen. Der Band stellt somit sowohl eine Standortbeschreibung als auch die Perspektive dieses Forschungsfeldes dar.
