About the Author

Once upon a time Lori R. Lopez was walking her dog and spied a fish fossil on a pile of Wisconsin rocks and dirt. You might expect a fish fossil to be at the bottom of an ocean or Great Lake. That was why her discovery had been so remarkable and rare. Nonetheless, she left the dead fish alone, confusing an ancient proverb about allowing dogged liars to sleep for an adage about letting fossilized Piranha rest in peace. The next day, she changed her mind and returned to hunt for the bony fish in a stone yet was unable to find it again. A lot of years later, she would dig for prehistoric clam-shaped fossils in the side of a San Diego cliff with her two sons Fred and Barney. (That isn’t their real names. She changed them legally to protect the innocent.) These experiences, while interesting, had nothing to do with inspiring a horror story titled FOSSIL in Twenty Eleven. She wrote it for an indie horror anthology, and it was rejected — possibly due to being so humorous. Or perhaps because it featured two old ladies as primary characters. Lori has any number of theories. She also has plans to write sequels, if she ever gets around to it. She plans to write sequels for many of her tales, although it could be just crazed mumbling or wishful thinking or a bad cup of cocoa giving her nightmares. Whatever the case may be, Lori will do her best to entertain. Unless she has Writer’s Block, in which case she will do her best to carve a statue out of it. Most likely in the shape of a monster. Maybe even a Bone Man, sculpted like a fossil. Unless Writer’s Block, like the Moon, is made of cheese. In that case, she would simply donate it to a house for homeless mice.
