“FOREVER YOUNG is a definitive portrayal of Loretta Young…”
Norman Brokaw, Chairman, William Morris Agency
“A rich tale replete with youthful scandal, the story behind (a) mystery…and the steadfast devotion to the Catholic Church…”
Pat Gerlach, reviewer, The Daily Herald
“It would be a difficult task for any writer to chronicle 87 years of anyone's life, but the life of one of Hollywood's most productive actresses would be a formidable… task for most authors. Joan Wester Anderson rose to the task.”
Diana Schafer, researcher, Centervile, Ohio
When author Joan Wester Anderson read some of the fan mail in response to FOREVER YOUNG, she was thrilled. She had never written a biography---her first sixteen books covered topics as diverse as angels, miracles and family humor. But when actress Loretta Young requested that Joan write her biography, Joan said yes. There were too many stories, both fascinating and heart-breaking, to leave untold. How did the Young family support themselves in their early years? How did they walk the fine line between their Catholic faith and their refusals to work on immoral movies? Was Clark Gable really the father of Loretta’s child? Did Spencer Tracy break her heart?
Loretta died just a few weeks before the book’s release, in August, 2000. And when the first printing sold out, there were no more available copies. No doubt, FOREVER YOUNG had reached just a fraction of the fans who mourned her loss.
But certain stars leave the brightest legacies, and in fall, 2012, Loretta’s daughter-in-law realized that Loretta’s one hundredth birthday would be arriving next year. Television stations, vintage movies, exhibiters for the Hollywood Museum, all climbed on board. Yes, they remembered Loretta and would love to celebrate her life...
There would be an updated item too, a souvenir marking one hundred years, no longer limited by paper and type. FOREVER YOUNG was now a product of the electronic age, and would never be lost again.
E-book or classic…The life, loves and enduring faith of a Hollywood legend live on.
