What are you gonna say? Here are three CDs and a DVD
Tom Jones package that flips through most of his career. While the obvious hits are on the first two discs, it's the duets package on disc three that is very enticing because it is made up mostly of live and televised performances. There's
Jones with
Tina Turner doing
Rod Stewart's
"Hot Legs";
Jones swingin' it on the
roots rock of
"Don't Let Go" with
Isaac Hayes; and finally,
Jones with
Dionne Warwick on
"Endless Love." All the hits are here and, as previously mentioned, most are the original versions, but even the re-recorded ones stick pretty close to the script. Add to this DVD of
Jones ripping it up for the panty-throwing masses of women from the WWII generation and you have a spectacle that's not only worth enduring but worth celebrating. Given the crap job that
Madacy usually does,
Forever Tom Jones is both a shock and a welcome surprise. ~ Thom Jurek
