Gr 7 Up-This book consists of periodical articles and excerpts from books and government documents. Because each section is written by a different person, it's difficult to rate the overall quality of writing. Most of it is dry and technical. The topics, however, are interesting and timely, and for students who need information on Mad Cow Disease, genetically modified foods, food irradiation, or bioterrorism, the material will be useful. There are also three pieces devoted to the meat-packing industry and market inspection. The bibliography and list of organizations will be of help to teens seeking further data.
