Hardt (Legacy) spins erotic gold out of the undefined relationship between a dominant, emotionally distant Boston billionaire and a girl-next-door Midwesterner in the first romance of her Follow Me series. Skye Manning, raised on a Kansas farm, moves to Boston hoping to become a legitimate photographer, but instead gets a job snapping staged selfies for social media influencer Addison Ames. When new money billionaire Braden Black, Addison’s ex, calls Addison out for her pretensions on Instagram, the confrontation lands Braden in Addison’s office—where he meets and seduces Skye, who falls hard and fast for the enigmatic man. But outside of the bedroom, Braden’s feelings remain in question. Smart, sassy Skye is an admirable heroine, while Braden defines tall, mysterious, and irresistible—though his occasional coldness will turn off some readers. Stellar supporting characters—especially Skye’s best friend, Tessa—add depth. A cliffhanger ending leaves many tantalizing questions unanswered, particularly the details of Braden and Addison’s past relationship, which are teased throughout. Though this lack of closure will frustrate some, readers who like their romance with a dominant and sexy edge will devour this addictive series launch. (Oct.)
