Overview

As a grandfather to nine, the author had read many books about colors to toddlers and young children. He found them uninspired. There is so much artistic form and color in this world: cartoon drawings just can not compete. His first contribution to aesthetics in books about color was Parrot Colors.

Gratified by the warm reception of books on color based on outstanding artwork, he found Familiar Indian Flowers by Lena Lowis. He restored the beautiful artwork from this 1879 publication, and created this book.

Parent's Guide

Children learn by imitation and repetition. As you read this book to your child, point to each color as you say its name. Soon, your child will be pointing to the colors all on his or her own.
When your child starts pointing at the colors, say each color names as your child points to it. Soon your child will be pointing at the colors and saying the color names.
