Overview

Finally, one of the most riveting memoirs about symptomatic, uterine fibroid tumors that's bound to leave you tearful, laughing-out-loud, and baffled! Written with raw candor, author Rose Marie Johnson explicitly divulges how this centuries-old, incurable dis-ease affected her life, quality of life, relationships, career, and more in five pounds of fibroids: a memoir.

If you or someone you know suffers with debilitating symptoms of fibroids, non-cancerous growths that develop in the muscular wall of the uterus with sizes ranging from a pea to that of a small watermelon, and are asking...
 How many more mattresses, chairs, couches, car and airplane seats am I going to destroy?
 Should I continue "watching and waiting" as my doctor recommends?
 Are large and multiple fibroids preventing me from conceiving?
 Why are alternative and non-surgical treatments ineffective in treating my fibroids?
 Is hysterectomy my only option now that some of my fibroids are the size of grapefruit?
 How much longer am I going to sit on the sidelines, watching my life fall apart physically, psychologically, socially, and economically because of symptomatic, uterine fibroid tumors? Another year? Five years? Ten years? Fifteen years?

About the Author

Prior to the onslaught of fibroids, ROSE MARIE JOHNSON looked forward to a career in acting. Upon graduating from New York City’s High School of Performing Arts, she was named a Presidential Scholar in Theatre, garnering recognition at the White House and a performance at Kennedy Center. She was also a winner of the Arts and Recognition Talent Search sponsored by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, and winner of the National Society of Arts and Letters competition.

To further master her craft, she attended California Institute of the Arts, then graduated from United States International University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre and Master of Fine Arts degree in Arts Business Management.

With fibroids hindering her true passion, she ventured into computer technology. Spending over 15 years managing her entrepreneurial business specializing in software applications training, e-learning development, instructional design and technical writing, she currently provides consultative services to Fortune 1000 corporations.

Surely, this newfound career birthed and honed her writing skills as evident in her compelling book, five pounds of fibroids: a memoir.
