The wizards of Peridia formed a collective, pooled their magic, and magicked their way to a world with unlimited magical energy. They left behind their flesh and bone bodies and young Milo Quagmire, the basted son of a Witch Queen and a Master Wizard.
You would think that being the last wizard left on the planet would be a good-paying gig for Milo, but it's not. Instead, the half-wizard was cursed by the Prime Wizard before he left. So now the eighteen-year-old teen is trapped in a short, chubby, fifty-year-old body with anxieties. As if that wasn't bad enough, Milo was born with Muddy Magic.
Sometimes Milo's magic works as it should, and sometimes it doesn't. Unfortunately, most of the time, it doesn't, which gets him into trouble. The only gift the young wizard has that works consistently is that he can find anything. Provided what he is looking for is more than a mile away.
Compounding his problems with muddy magic are his familiars, who sometimes hinder him more than help.
Harry, a former action figure, is a bumbling Trorc (part troll and part orc) that Milo's muddy magic turned into his familiar. Anna is a sexy vamp who was formerly Milo's blow-up doll—another example of magic gone awry. And finally, Mackenzie. Macke is a mini dragon from an alternate reality who blows colored bubbles instead of breathing fire. Macke believes he's a male dragon trapped in a female dragon's body.
Together they make up the crew of Finders Incorporated and hire out to find hidden objects, people, or lost animals for money. They all live in a structure called "The Werehouse." The building is a shape-shifting entity conjured by Milo's father, a Master Wizard. You never know what room you will walk into when you leave another.
Milo's latest problem is he found, then lost, three million in cash. Unfortunately for the Finders crew, the money belongs to the vicious head of the Caputo crime family. So, now the mob is literally out for Milo's head.
Compounding everything is that Harry's bungled attempt to cure Milo's muddy magic has released Ammit, an ancient Egyptian demoness. Ammit was known as the "Devourer of the Dead" and "Eater of Hearts" by the Egyptians.
Now she is loose and ripping open the chests of unbelievers and devouring their hearts. Milo and a coven of witches are the only ones who can stop her.
