Overview

Dying is not a right. Government has seized the opportunity to intervene in peoples' lives when end of life issues arise. Without a clearly written statement of medical directives the health system is forced to turn to blind courts and aggressive prosecutors to guide them. In this book are a series of cases confronting those in the last days of their lives. Many of these patients made national headlines in their fight to die with dignity. In one specific case a State forced a hospital to keep a brain dead individual alive indefinitely. Doctor Mark Davis has had the privilege of working with several hundred individuals at the most sensitive times in their lives. He brings experienced insights to a subject quietly discussed in the shadows of our society. This book displays many paths to avoid government's intrusive hand allowing outcomes that otherwise would have been made by bureaucrats.

About The Author

Brought up in the uncivil streets of Brooklyn NY the author, Mark Davis, was less than polished when he entered adulthood. Proximity to wanton violence and poverty provided him a first hand experience who are the game players in the social construct called society. After a stint in Medical School he moved to Maryland. Dr. Davis found his new state fraught with corruption and decay surrounded by some of the most beautiful topography in America. He served for a time in the Public Health Service until the government decided he should move to nowhere USA. Declining he stayed in Maryland for nearly 4 decades intermittently practicing Internal Medicine and writing articles and books. Dr. Davis' name moved through the media and he has been called upon hundreds of times to provide opinion and fact on various topics. Offered several opportunities for radio shows he has declined but is reconsidering that position. With three books and hundreds of articles to his credit he continues to write and perfect his craft.
