If you are enamored of the natural world, there's a good possibility that some of yours are connected with your early use of field guides. Looking over The Cornell Lab of Ornithology's All About Birds Pocket Guide Series (recently released and published in collaboration with Waterford Press and the Cornell Lab Publishing Group), memories arose of my childhood and adolescent engagement with field guides. Field guides supercharged my interest in nature and the awe that I have for it. They increased my knowledge about animals I saw or hoped to observe.
